A pleasant, focused writing experience combined with effective document management, fast syncing and flexible export make Ulysses the first choice for writers of all kinds.
We have just released Ulysses 20. Look up open directly in dictionary app mac. It should be available now on the Mac App Store as well as the App Store, so go and check for updates.
This release is all about the dashboard. On iPad and iPhone, the dashboard replaces the attachment bar, integrates the statistics panel, and adds a much-requested navigator, which allows you to quickly jump between all kinds of sections in your sheets. On macOS, the dashboard also replaces the attachment bar, integrates enhanced versions of both statistics and navigator panels, and introduces our brand-new revision mode — featuring a comprehensive grammar and style check for well over 20 languages.

Navigation Revisited
For years now, Ulysses on macOS has had a navigation panel. It listed all headlines in the currently selected sheet, and a click would scroll to whichever headline you, well… clicked on. It was simple and effective, especially when writing lengthy texts. Or rather: when writing longer texts with lots of headlines.
When we designed the new dashboard, one of our goals was to give users quick access to content beyond headlines. Let’s say you’re writing a blog post. Wouldn’t you like to see all URLs listed somewhere? And your images, too? And quickly see which images are placeholders? Or say you’re writing prose. Wouldn’t you like to see your comments, annotations, and your marked text passages listed as well? Footnotes, anyone? https://navinew255.weebly.com/blog/music-studio-for-android-download.
The new dashboard offers just that. It features navigator sections for all kinds of content — from headlines to footnotes, from images to links and annotations. Most sections will only show on demand, i.e. if your text features content of the specific type (think images), and some sections will show content in logical groups (think annotations, comments, markers). It’s all designed for quick access, low friction, and a maximum of versatility. And once again, we set out to offer more options and more power, while drastically reducing clutter.
The new dashboard, including the new navigator, is available on all devices. Each device has its own dedicated look and feel because each device is different, and you’ll use them differently. Feature-wise, they’re on par with each other, with only one exception, which we’ll make available first on macOS…
Revision Mode
On Mac, we have added a special “revision” mode to the dashboard, where we do a couple of cool things to help you finalize your texts. For example, we tone down your theme’s colors to the bare minimum and reduce the prominence of all inline tags. This is already great for proofreading your text, but we didn’t stop there.

First off, we included an annotation section, which lists all your comments, annotations, text markers and deletions, if there are any. So you can step through your inline notes and tick them off one by one.
We then added the results of the system‘s spell checker to revision mode: it comes in its own navigator section, so you can quickly see all its suggestions, with inline highlights and all. https://boosterbrown213.weebly.com/blog/logitech-options-daemon-mac-download. A click will take you to the word in question, and a double-click will open a popover with info text, and action buttons.
We then went that extra mile: We added an “advanced text check” to revision mode, which offers informed suggestions on capitalization, punctuation, semantics, redundancy, style and typography. We partnered with LanguageTooler for this, a fellow German company which develops the magnificent LanguageTool Plus. As a matter of fact, we fully integrated LT Plus into Ulysses, so you now have access to its comprehensive set of grammar and style rules right from within Ulysses!
As with the rest of the dashboard, revision mode is highly configurable. You can hide annotations, leave out single checker rules, or turn off spell check altogether. Though judging by beta feedback, you’ll probably leave it all… checked ?
And that’s it for today. If you haven’t already, go and update! Adobe application updater download mac. Explore the new features. Let us know how they work for you. Most importantly though: Have fun!
We have just released Ulysses 14 for macOS. If you haven’t done so yet, go download the update from the Mac App Store. Here’s what you’ll get:
![]() Share Extension
We had this on iOS for quite some time, and now it’s in Ulysses for Mac also. If you’re working in an app that allows you to share its content, you can now send that content right over to Ulysses. You will get a small “Ulysses mini” window, where you can add text or make edits. Once you hit “Send”, a new sheet will be created in your library. You can of course select the destination group for the new sheet.
This is version 1.0 of our share extension. We could go all mental with features for this thing, but we’re awaiting feedback first. So let us know what you think, how you’re using it, how you would like to use it and so on. Happy sharing!
A Facelift for the Sheet List
We’ve taken the liberty to make some changes to the sheet list. You’ll notice the new look and feel as soon as you open the app, so no need to tell you how it looks, but here’s the thing: We usually try to be as consistent as possible with the system we’re shipping on, because consistency reduces cognitive overhead – you already know how stuff is supposed to work, so why mess with this, right?
Well, sometimes you need to break the grid. And if you do, do it full force. We believe that the new sheet list gives a much better overview of Ulysses’ specific way to display nested groups and, equally important, present search results. It also serves as a nice foundation for future additions.
A Revamped Dark Mode
Speaking of system consistency: We had a dark mode for ages. Literally – ages (insert silly dark ages pun here). So when Apple announced to ship a native dark mode with macOS Mojave, we were thrilled; another one of “Ulysses Firsts” to tick off. ;)
Jokes aside, the beauty of the native dark mode is its ubiquitousness, of course. Not only will more and more apps now adopt dark mode, but all elements in all apps can now easily adopt dark mode, without going through hoops.
In Ulysses, this means a fledged out dark mode, finally. Export, Preferences and all. And you can now either switch dark mode at will, or you can auto-switch depending on which mode you choose in system preferences. Night owl app mac dark mode. Pro tip: Get f.lux and enable “OS X Dark theme at sunset”.
Now turn off the lights. Get stuff done.
FixesUlysses Mac App Store Online
As always, we’ve found some bugs and squashed them good, and we also made some adjustments to how little things work. You can read about all these fixes in our version history, so I won’t bore you with them too much, just one thing: We have disabled the “double-arrow up/down” shortcut to switch sheets in the editor. It was driving people nuts more often than it did any good. If you’re among those who really miss this, please get in touch, and we’ll see if we can work it out. For now,
⌘⌥↑ and ⌘⌥↓ (command-option-up/down) does the same trick.
